From our archives we are happy to present four major recordings of acclaimed film-maker Thom Andersen introducing his films and discussing his career.  Thom was a guest of the 1st Essay FIlm Festival held in 2015 and in these recordings he is in conversation with Kodwo Eshun of the Otolith Group and Michael Witt.

Vasari Centre & BIMI Digital Animation Series: Andy Holden

Event Description: For this event, artist Andy Holden presented his short film Laws of Motion in a Cartoon Landscape (2016), in which he explores the rules behind the universe of Looney Tunes and Silly Symphonies. A cartoon avatar of Holden guides his audience through a compilation of clips, ranging from animation to news reels, where he reveals ten rules that govern the interactions and movements of cartoon characters, and encourages viewers to question the forces underpinning our own society.
